weekend is just like the week when you don't work.

my brother emailed me a copy of the email that he sent this company. he is threatening to bring a law suit against them for not contacting them and upholding their 5 year "no questions asked" warranty. sometimes its nice to have a brother who is an attorney.

today was a nice one

they responded and told him i should try lithium batteries and the company that makes the blinds is different from the ones that install them and the makers have the guarantee. so i have to go look for lithium AA batteries tomorrow. swo we'll see if that works.

might get to bed early

well, they do make lithium double A batteries, but they are the long round ones. the blinds controls are 2 small square buttons not much thicker than a coin. they have to use those flat round batteries. that's what the manual says too. so i don't know what those people were talking about.

nice if i could sleep all night

i'm stupid! totally forgot that there are batteries in the base of the blinds too. that's where the AA ones go. the coin ones go in the remote thing. my brother is going to have to replace the ones in the top of the blinds. i don't know how to get them down and can't reach that high. when i try to work on something high i lose my balance and tend to fall backwards. so he gets the job. have to get the batteries tomorrow.

Quickly i went to buy some

i was fixated on the control device and didn't even think about the main unit. mom and Stacey never thought about that either. and there is nothing at all about batteries in the manual except for the remote control unit. guess the manufacturer forgot about those batteries too.

i got the batteries but my brother or nephew will have to come and put them in. i can't reach the top of the window to access them. besides, i tend to fall backwards when i reach for stuff high up. my balance is a little off.

that is a basic requirement

right. apparently my nephew is coming tuesday to try to fix them. i prefer to keep them closed. the window is maybe 5 feet (1 1/2 meters) from the sidewalk where people walk by. i prefer the privacy.

its a bay window that my dad put in. i rarely open my shutters because it's too close to the sidewalk. my bedroom window is fine, but not the others.

today was very exciting

around 7pm tonight i heard 2 large booms from outside. i went out and looked around and then saw flames and then billows of smoke coming from the end of the next block, where the tristate tollway and 290 expressway are. that's 12 lanes of fast traffic a block away. i was about to dial 911 to call for help when i started hearing sirens. the highway lanes are above our street level and there is about a 4 foot cement wall and then slatted wood walls that are about 15 feet high, so w can't see the traffic. but there ere a bunch of flames and little particles with flames coming down from over that wall. some paper napkins blew by us and they were singed from the flames. it was windy and i was afraid that the bundles of flames might start a fire in the 2 houses closest to the wall. i went home because i was freezing. a little later there were sirens and fire trucks going by the house so i went to see what was going on. a big fire truck had to back down the street to the wall where the burning vehicle was . they extended their big ladder and were spraying the fire from the street side. then some people that lived a few houses away from the wall came home and i talked to them and they said that from the bridge on the road near us that goes over all the highways, they could see 2 big trucks and a big tour bus were involved. saw it later on the local news and they said it was one big truck and the bus, but only minor injuries. the truck must have had something flamable that it was carrying. it was a huge fire and the smoke was terrible. i had to go home and get away from it. that was a big fire!

you better believe it

ok, got the official story. the coach bus was in the break down lane and empty. the semi for some reason drifted off the road and hit the bus. the truck exploded and a little later the bus exploded. the truck driver had minor injuries. it was a big fire that they had to use foam on. so that's it. the truck driver may have fallen asleep or something to cause him to drift off the road and hit the bus.
