Some of you have mentioned that you are suddenly getting thread e-mail notifications.
This probably means that in your profile, you have "Always notify me of replies" set to ON.
What that does is activate the e-mail notification system by default when you first post in a thread. I've fixed the notification system recently (to get rid of the "Debug Error" that has plagued us for a while, and you probably should have been getting the messages earlier, too.
To stop it doing it by default, open your profile and set "Always notify me of replies" to OFF. That will stop you flagging any threads by default, but you will have to manually stop individual threads you already have subscribed.
You can choose to start or stop it when you post by using the check box marked "Notify me when a reply is posted" in the posting form. If you have the profile option set to ON, this box will be on by default. You can turn the box on or off to chose whether to receive e-mails or not.
To stop individual threads that you already have subscribed to, use the "Stop watching this topic" link found at the bottom of the topic, or by clicking the "unwatch" link in the notification e-mail.
The "Stop watching this topic" link will be below the page number on the lower left of the page. If it's not there, but there is a link for "Watch this topic for replies", you are not subscribed for that thread.
You can, of course, use that "Watch this topic for replies" to start receiving e-mails without posting in the thread. |
