Argh!! The crosses!!!!

Postby SeaBee » Thu Jan 12, 2006 1:05 am

I have a slight technical problem with this forum, and I hope somebody can help. Whenever I come into the site I am unable to see the emoticons and avatars. Is there a setting I need to enable to clear this up? Only the sight of all these little boxes with crosses is starting to bug me a little.

Sorry, I have no idea why this happens to some people, but not to others.

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to fiddle with me settings, see what happens. At least I'm not alone. If I find a cure I'll post it here.

It could be your anti virus program. I have Norton and if you have some of your settings high it may be blocking the images.
If you have Norton, click on the Norton Anti Spam, I have my Ad blocking off, if this is 'on' this may be your problem. If you want it to remain on, click on configure, in that window there will be another box to click on to enable you to allow the website/forum to display images.

If you have another type of firewall open it and go to Ad blocking and configure it by looking up the website and adding that site to the allowed list or what ever is permissable.

I hope this helps, if not, I'm as much at a loss as No1_sonuk

Thanks for the idea, I think that you may be on the right track. Unfortunately it may be my ISPs firewall, rather than norton causing the problem.

Mind you it's the writing in the posts that count, not the pretties, so as long as I can see that I'm cool. :)

All has now become clear, I think.

I recently received an auto update from Microsoft for IE, and now I can see all the pretty bits.

This means it was Bill Gates fault, not mine. :D
